Benefits of Membership

NETWORKING – AFWA provides you an opportunity to meet women from various fields of accounting at all levels of experience. Our chapter membership includes CPAs, CMAs, degreed and non-degreed accountants, in public and private practice, governmental and non-profit, as well as finance directors and many others. Our members range from sole-practitioners to controllers of regional corporations. All this experience results in a support network that can be called upon to solve almost any problem or answer any question.

LEADERSHIP – Being active in AFWA provides many opportunities to develop leadership skills. Whether you are working on a committee, heading up a project, or serving as an officer you will gain skills that can help you further your career. ASWA provides a safe environment to try new things. Everyone in ASWA wants to see you succeed.

CONTINUING EDUCATION – Most monthly AFWA meetings qualify for CPE credit with the New York State Board of Accountancy. The Central New York chapter holds one or two seminars each year. There are also regional and national meetings that provide CPE.

EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE – AFWA has a job referral committee that helps members find employment or employees. Many employers call AFWA before they advertise openings.
